Individual Therapy

Whether you have never tried therapy or have had many experiences in the past, individual therapy is an important space for you to focus on your needs with someone who makes you feel heard and understood. It is space that allows for self-reflection, internal growth, and behavior change. I am dedicated to helping you move towards your goals and values and will work with you to determine the best way to get you to that place.

What I offer

  • PTSD/Trauma

For many people who experience a trauma, they may not have an outlet to process what happened to them. Having space to share your experience and learning new skills to address the changes after a trauma are essential parts of the healing process. I offer the most effective treatments for PTSD, including Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, and EMDR.

  • Anxiety

Anxiety and worry may be something you have dealt with all your life or it may have started after a recent stressor. Whatever the case, learning specific strategies to manage your anxiety is important. Using a Cognitive Behavioral approach, I will provide you with new tools to cope.

  • Depression

When you’re feeling sad or down, little things can feel very overwhelming. Understanding the ways in which your thoughts impact your mood, recognizing the triggers to your emotional reactions, and learning ways to regulate your emotions are important parts of decreasing your depression. Building these skills using a Cognitive Behavioral approach, I will help you make meaningful change.

  • Race-based Stress

The BIPOC experience is unique and fraught with day to day stressors that can be very difficult to manage. Having a space to process, feel understood, and find ways to manage is important to cope with the ongoing stress of racism and discrimination.

  • Adoption Issues

The adoption experience is often misunderstood and for adoptees their experience is often invalidated and unheard. Creating opportunities for your voice to be heard, to build your identity as an adoptee, and to process the trauma inherent in adoption is possible through individual therapy.

  • Sleep Issues

Sleep is one of the most important parts of well-being, and yet, many people struggle with sleep issues. If you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep and find that it is affecting your day-to-day life, CBT for insomnia may be a great way to help you start sleeping better.

  • Journalist Stress/Trauma

I am developing a sub-specialty in working with journalists who are exposed to occupational stress and trauma. I have a strong appreciation for the role of journalism in society, and consider it a privilege to work with news professionals. I have received training from the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma on the professional culture and occupational challenges of journalists. In addition to using HIPAA-compliant telehealth software, I have also received training from the Freedom of the Press Foundation on best practices for digital security when using telehealth technology.
